a life less ordinary

Sometimes the good in us really does stand out.How we treat a person of a lower stature, or a person of lower mental capacity are in my books some of the traits that go to show the character of the human being. And as cliche or rare as it may sound, we should never underestimate the compassion of the common man on the streets.I did and I realized I was wrong.

Yesterday at the mechanic to get my colleague's Bullet done I came across a strange sight.People -children,shopkeepers,pedestrians all in their own kind of way helping and more importantly cheering up a mentally challenged man. With an obvious disregard for clothes and a seemingly very very sweet tooth he seemed to be enjoying the company of people around him and vice versa. People buying him candy, balloons, tying up his pants-and mind you none of these are people even closely related.Just folks who happened to be around the street where he was.

I dont wanna be sounding like an elder now..but the thing to be understood here is this, and its very true and important. Life is not fair to a lot of people and not just you, infact it can be unfair to some.It makes sense to wake up,stop whatever you are doing and try and cheer or make another's life a little less ordinary. It will enrich yours too, I promise.

How to pick a Leader

Virtue is a suite of values-soaked abilities that in active combination form a person's character and give shape to a life. Our choices and actions both reveal and reinforce our character. You cannot judge whether a person will be a good leader—a good President—without knowing and evaluating his or her character—how life has stamped or marked them...

Let's start with the virtue perhaps most universally acknowledged and admired: courage. In premodern times, the courage of a leader often had to be physical. In the last 500 years it is more often moral. Moral courage is the ability to do what's right even when it is deeply unpopular, even dangerous. Courage is only found where there is the genuine possibility of loss—loss of friends, reputation, status, power, possessions, or, at the extremes, freedom or life.'

- Daniel Taylor & Mark McCloskey, 'How to Pick a President'.

in the beginning

Been a while since I have been planning on starting a blog. Actually it took a while for me to figure out what a blog was and what it involved, and what actually went into it. I was ignorant.

Then I had to figure out what this blog had to be about. It took me sometime to actually narrow down and finally decide on what the topic or purpose of this blog should be.The list came down and included work, profession, gossip, music, values, work-life balance besides others.Then..

I decided the whole idea should be about Freedom.Free from all constraints, a space like no other, like the loo where you have your own space to comment, critique and lambast.

So here I plan to start a place wherein everyone is free..
